Who we are
SophiWhisper (“the App”) is a local-first mobile application for recording meetings, transcribing audio, and generating structured reports on your device.
Summary
- We do not create user accounts.
- We do not sell personal data.
- We do not run advertising or analytics SDKs that collect your meeting content.
- Meeting audio, transcripts, reports, optional learning data, and local AI components are stored protected on your device.
- Transcription and report generation run on your phone after components are installed.
- Optional app lock (biometrics or device passcode) can require unlock to open the App; it is off by default and can be enabled during setup or in Settings.
Data processed on your device
The App processes the following categories of information locally on your device:

We (the developer) do not receive copies of your meetings, transcripts, or reports as part of normal App operation.
Network activity
The App may use the network for:
- Downloading AI components (speech-to-text and report models) so transcription and reports can run offline. Downloads are served by third-party infrastructure such as Hugging Face and GitHub Releases. This traffic downloads model weights only. It does not upload your meeting audio, transcripts, or reports to those providers or to us for AI processing.
- Actions you initiate, such as sharing a file through Mail, Messages, or another app. In those cases, the recipient and the system share sheet—not SophiWhisper as a cloud AI service—handle the content.
- Optional text-to-speech: if you enable “Read aloud,” speech may use the device’s system voice engine and/or an on-device voice pack you install. Prefer on-device / local voices when available.
On-device AI: Transcription (Whisper / sherpa-onnx) and report generation (llama.cpp / Qwen) run locally on your phone. We do not send meeting content to OpenAI, Anthropic, or other cloud AI inference APIs.
If the App later adds cloud sync, accounts, or telemetry, this policy will be updated before those features ship.
Permissions
- Microphone — required to record meetings. You can also import audio without recording, depending on the flow.
- Face ID / biometrics — only if you enable optional app lock; used to unlock the App.
We do not request contacts, location, photos library access as core features, or push-notification permission for analytics.
Retention and deletion
You control retention on your device. Deleting a recording (and related transcripts/reports as applicable) removes the associated local data according to the App’s delete flows. Uninstalling the App removes App sandbox data subject to iOS/Android platform behavior.
Children’s privacy
The App is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The App Store age rating reflects a general productivity tool without public social features.

Component downloads may involve technical download traffic (e.g. IP address) under those providers’ own terms. Your meeting content is not uploaded to them for transcription or report generation.
Your choices
- Deny microphone permission (recording will not work; import may still be available).
- Enable or disable optional app lock in Settings (or during first-run setup).
- Delete recordings, transcripts, and reports inside the App.
- Disable optional local learning in Settings if offered.
- Uninstall the App at any time.

Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Material changes that affect App Store privacy labels will be reflected in App Store Connect as well.
